The challenge

Reach customers across the service area.

A painting contractor serves customers well beyond its business address. The goal was to build stronger visibility across the surrounding Montgomery County service area, using location-based rank measurement to see where the profile appeared for relevant painting searches.

The July 23 scan established a clear starting point: an average map position of 10.6 and 13.9% top-three coverage across seven tracked searches. The engagement connected profile improvements with a consistent publishing schedule and repeatable map measurements.

The system

Build the foundations. Publish consistently. Measure the map.

Four workstreams supported the Google Business Profile engagement from July 23 through September 12. Each created a repeatable process for maintaining the profile and tracking local visibility.

01

Profile foundations

Rewrote the business description around relevant painting services, added 31 individual services with their own descriptions, and updated profile attributes.

02

Content cadence

Published 28 Google posts and added 17 profile photos. The wider content work included 20 locally optimized photos and four videos, with two videos published to Google during the reporting period.

03

Citation consistency

Brought 51 business directories into sync. Weekly synchronization began in August to maintain consistent business information across the listings.

04

Rank measurement

Tracked seven searches on a 13 by 13 grid spanning a 6.5 by 6.5 mile territory. Each scan measured Google Maps positions at 169 locations per keyword.

The results

Stronger map coverage across every tracked search.

By the September 1 comparison scan, all seven searches had improved in both average position and top-three coverage. Across the set, average position moved from 10.6 to 6.5, while top-three coverage more than doubled from 13.9% to 30.6%.

“Painting contractor” recorded the largest reported visibility gain at 282%. “Residential painting” achieved the strongest top-three coverage: more than half of its tracked grid points returned a top-three result, with an average position of 3.9.

Evidence notes

What the numbers measure.

  • The engagement reporting period is July 23–September 12, 2026. Rank comparisons use the July 23 baseline and September 1 comparison scans.
  • Each keyword was measured at 169 points on a 13 by 13 grid spanning 6.5 by 6.5 miles. Top-three coverage is the percentage of those points returning a top-three result, averaged across the seven searches for the headline figure.
  • The headline coverage figures are rounded from the reported 13.9% and 30.6%. The supplied graphics visualize the scan comparisons.
  • Visibility gain is the tracking report’s composite metric. Impressions, direction requests, and website clicks are separate Google Business Profile activity measures.
  • Profile impressions increased from 108 in July to 173 in August, approximately 60%. Direction requests and website clicks are August totals.
